Everyone needs to step away from work now and then. At Baseflow, we trust you to manage your own time responsibly. That’s why we offer an unlimited days off policy—because it’s not about how many days off you take, but ensuring you get the rest you need to stay happy, healthy, and productive. Whenever you plan to take time off, just make sure to coordinate with your team so projects keep running smoothly.
In the Netherlands, employees officially receive 20 days of paid leave (based on a 40-hour work week) and observe 8 national holidays. At Baseflow, these national holidays are guidelines rather than strict rules. Feel free to enjoy these days off or work if it suits you better.
Given our unlimited vacation policy, it might initially feel a bit overwhelming. For context, most people in the Netherlands typically take between 25 and 29 days off per year (based on a 40-hour work week). Ultimately, it’s up to you to decide what works best, as long as you’re fulfilling your responsibilities and keeping your team in the loop.
Start by going to TimeChimp. Then, navigate to the ‘Time’ tab. Here, you can choose Baseflow B.V. as a customer; for a project, you choose ‘Afwezigheid / Absence. Now, as a task, you choose ‘vakantie’. Fill in the hours of the days you’re on leave. That’s it.
It is important to do this before you go on holiday so that Chantal can progress the hours (for the customer) correctly and on time.
Go to the Google Calendar and create a new event. Name the event something like ‘Your name - free’ to let everybody know you’re off that day. Change the calendar from your own calendar to the ‘Baseflow holiday’ calendar. To do so, click on your name and select the holiday calendar from the dropdown menu.

If you don’t have this option, please get in touch with Chantal. She will take care of it and ensure you get added to the Baseflow Holiday calendar.
Want to know when your colleagues are taking some well-deserved time off? You can view the holiday calendar on Google Calendar. To ensure you can see the Baseflow Holiday calendar, check the box at ‘Baseflow holidays’ in the ‘Other calendars’ section. This way, you can see the overview in your Calendar view.
