The Dutch pension system is based on three pillars; State, Work and Private. The (estimated) age at which you receive a state pension can be found here:

State

When you are reaching your retirement age and you live in the Netherlands or have previously lived in the Netherlands, you will receive a monthly old-age pension (AOW) payment from the Sociale Verzekeringsbank (SVB). The old-age pension benefit is paid until you die. The old-age pension is a basic government pension.

Work

A workplace pension is offered to you by your employer, which are typically handled by an external pension provider. These pensions are additional to the AOW and are based on the average salary a worker has built up during their career. Pension funds are stored collectively by a pension provider

Private

Another way to supplement your pension is by making voluntary contributions to a private pension fund. Major banks and insurance companies typically offer private pensions. Like workplace based pension funds contributions are invested, however they are not collectively shared.
