Like other pension funds, Bright is an investment institution. It has its own fund, the ‘Bright LifeCycle Funds’, which handles the money of all participants. This fund is set up in a defensive and neutral part with the goal of 6% return of investment based on 2% inflation.
Bright recommends putting in a monthly deposit opposed to a yearly deposit, to mitigate risks. This is due to Bright rebalancing their fund every month to decrease risks.

One of the major differences between a Workplace pension and a Private pension, is the application of the ‘Nederlandse Pensioenwet’.
The ‘jaarruimte’ or the yearly fiscal spending room is the amount of money you can set aside in a year in a fiscally friendly way to fill the gap from not receiving pension directly. This amount will be taxed similar to a workplace pension. Depositing more money in your pension fund than this limit in a year will be fully taxed.
The amount of ‘jaarruimte’ depends on your income and some other factors and can be calculated with tools from the Belastingdienst.
<aside> 👉 Money spend within the ‘jaarruimte’ can be deducted from your income taxes the following year.
